LawDesk 5.7 should not be installed in the same network folder or location as Premise 3.8. Doing so will delete the Premise 3.8 setup.exe file.
You can copy this LawDesk program to a server on your local area network (LAN) so that other LAN users can upgrade their LawDesk software without having to download it.
This LawDesk program can also be run directly from the network. However, West does not recommend the use of LawDesk in peer-to-peer environments due to performance issues. West also does not recommend the use of LawDesk CD-ROM data with Novell's CDROM.NLM and CDROM.NSS file systems.
If you are running Windows NT 4.0, Service Pack 6 is required.
Minimum System Requirements
  • Operating system: Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME (except for westlaw.com uplink users), Windows NT with Service Pack 6 (see above), Windows 2000, or Windows XP.
  • Browser: Windows 95, 98, 200, NT: Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 or Netscape Navigator 4.06 (Navigator 6.0 is not supported); Windows XP: IE 6 or Netscape 6.1. Cookies must be enabled in browser; JavaScript should also be enabled for best performance. No browser required if you intend to access information solely on CD-ROM.
  • Monitor resolution: VGA (640 x 480); SVGA (800 x 600) recommended
  • Processor: 486DX 25; Pentium or equivalent recommended.
  • Modem or server speed: 9600 bps modem (14400 bps recommended) or local area network (LAN) communications server (TCP/IP, Eicon). No modem required if you intend to access information solely on CD-ROM.
  • Memory (RAM): Windows 95, 98: 16MB (24MB recommended); Windows NT: 28MB (32MB recommended).
  • Hard disk space: 95MB
