The Credit Crisis: New West Legalworks™ Book Equips Attorneys and Investors for Increasing Litigation Involving Pervasive Securitization

NEW YORK CITY, April 11, 2008 – As the credit crisis continues to expand, losses are inevitable, but who will bear them? The answer will ultimately lie with the courts, where loans and their origination and servicing have been the source of litigation in the United States for many years. But the disputes of 2008 – whether tied to consumer credit, subprime residential and commercial mortgages, student loans and more – are now complicated by the widespread use of securitization, a process few lawyers understand. To help sophisticated investors and lawyers understand the risks and advise their clients through the credit crisis, West Legalworks and Thomson West have published the Mortgage & Asset Backed Securities Litigation Handbook. West Legalworks is part of West, within The Thomson Corporation.

Co-authored by Thomas F. Nealon III, general counsel, LNR Partners, Inc. and Talcott J. Franklin, a partner and head of litigation in the Dallas office of Patton Boggs LLP, the book is a practical source to educate lawyers and sophisticated investors about the issues and pitfalls involved in litigating securitized mortgages and assets.

Note to editors: To listen to a podcast featuring a discussion with Thomas Nealon and Talcott Franklin – and learn more about their book – go to the West Legalworks Web site at www.westlegalworks.com.
