James M. Kosakow, coauthor of Handling Federal Estate and Gift Taxes, 6th, was named to the Worth Magazine list of Top 100 Attorneys in the Nation, in the December 2007 issue.
Nancy J. Lichtenstein, upkeep author for Colorado Criminal Practice and Procedure (Volumes 14 & 15 of the Colorado Practice Series), has been appointed to a judgeship by the governor of Colorado.

Nancy Fraas MacLean writes several volumes in the Tennessee Practice Series,
West's Federal Forms, West's Legal Forms, and West's Bankruptcy Series. Nancy has been elected to the board of directors of the Tennessee Justice Center, along with another one of our Tennessee Practice Series authors, Ellen Bronaugh Vergos.
Robert A. Matthews Jr's work, Annotated Patent Digest, was recently relied upon and quoted by Judge Leonard Davis of the Eastern District of Texas in Renhcol Inc. v. Don Best Sports, 2008 WL 1885522 (E.D. Tex. April 28, 2008). The Eastern District of Texas has the largest and busiest patent docket in the nation. The Annotated Patent Digest was also recently quoted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in a brief on the merits (2008 WL 890914) in the pending en banc hearing of Egyptian Goddess, Inc. v. Swisa, Inc. When decided, that case is expected to be the most significant design patent case in history.
John E. Nowak, coauthor of Nowak and Rotunda's Treatise on Constitutional Law: Substance and Procedure, 4th, has been appointed to the Raymond and Mary Simon Chair in Constitutional Law, Loyola University, Chicago School of Law.
William F. Patry was cited as an authority some 14 times in the recent opinion of Federal District Judge Stephen G. Larson in the case of Siegel v. Warner Brothers Entertainment. The case returned some of the exclusive rights of copyright in the comic book character of Superman to the heirs of one of his original creators under the termination provisions of the copyright law. Patry on Copyright was cited a dozen times, and an article by Patry was cited twice.
Dean Nancy H. Rogers, coauthor of Domestic Relations Law, 4th (Baldwin's Ohio Practice), has been selected to be the recipient of the Ohio State Bar Association's
highest honor, the Ohio Bar Medal.
Patricia E. Salkin has been named the Raymond and Ella Smith Distinguished
Professor of Law by Albany Law School. Patty is the author of New York Zoning Law and Practice, 4th, and Anderson's American Law of Zoning, 4th (and she's busily working on the 5th edition, which will be published in November). She is also the coauthor of Nolon and Salkin's Land Use in a Nutshell (Nutshell Series) and Nolon, Salkin and Gitelman's Land Use and Community Development: Cases and Materials, 7th (American Casebook Series). Additionally, she is the editor of our New York Zoning Law and Practice Report and Zoning and Planning Law Report newsletters and of our annual Zoning and Planning Law Handbook.
Professor Zachary Wolfe, coauthor of Hate Crimes Law, was a member of an emergency human rights delegation to Egypt, hosted by the Egyptian Bar Association.
The delegation was acting in response to February arrests and subsequent threats to
put dissidents on trial before military commissions.
