In Memoriam
David P. Currie was a long time scholar, professor, and author. He taught at The University of Chicago Law School for 45 years and was the author of 19 books and numerous articles. Professor Currie wrote
Currie's Federal Jurisdiction in a Nutshell, 4th (Nutshell Series) and
Currie's Federal Courts: Cases and Materials, 4th (American Casebook Series) and coauthored
Currie, Kay, Kramer and Roosevelt's Conflict of Laws: Cases and Comments, 7th (American Casebook Series) for West.
Theodore S. Lynn was a partner with Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP and, before 1991, a partner at Webster & Sheffield, in New York City. With advanced degrees in tax law, his area of expertise was the representation of public and private companies. He was also an expert on pass-through entities, such as general and limited partnerships, limited liability companies, and REITs. Mr. Lynn was the principal author of
Real Estate Investment Trusts for West. The genesis of this work was research that Mr. Lynn conducted while in Harvard law school in the 1960s. He also authored
Real Estate Limited Partnerships with Harry F. Goldberg, and wrote for numerous tax publications.
Jerome Mirza was a highly respected trial lawyer, legal expert, and author. Mr. Mirza wrote
Illinois Personal Injury, Illinois Tort Law and Practice, 3d, and
Winning Litigation the Mirza Way for West. Mr. Mirza was a member of the Inner Circle of Advocates (the top 100 personal injury lawyers in the nation), a president of the Illinois State Bar Association, and a president of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. He was a role model for other lawyers and will be remembered both for his courtroom success and his contributions to legal education.
Jonathon L. Rosner, Esq. was a very popular Thomson West author. He authored the renowned title
Preparing Witnesses now in its third edition. Mr. Rosner coauthored
Impeachment of Witnesses and
Cross-Examination of Witnesses Mr. Rosner was actively engaged in civil and criminal litigation for more than forty years. A former law clerk to a federal judge and a former federal prosecutor, he appeared in civil, criminal, and disciplinary cases in more than 15 states. Mr. Rosner was an adjunct professor at New York University School of Law for more than a dozen years, where he taught a senior litigation seminar. He was in charge of New York City's investigation of the 1977 power failure and New York State's investigation of police misuse of force. He is listed in
