Kenneth M. Ross

Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, West and North American Legal
Ken Ross is senior vice president and chief technology officer (CTO) for West, the foremost provider of electronic workflow solutions to the U.S. legal profession, and for North American Legal (NAL). Dr. Ross leads the West Technology organization, which builds and maintains West's online products, including Westlaw. The organization also builds West's content capture and editorial systems, supporting both online information products and print products. As CTO of NAL, Dr. Ross also provides technology oversight for all NAL businesses. He represents NAL on the Thomson CTO Council, which he chairs.
Dr. Ross initially joined Thomson in 1998 as vice president and then senior vice president of Technology Strategy. He moved to West in April 2000 as vice president of Business Information and E-Commerce Systems, where he was responsible for implementing the company's Business Systems Initiative, as well as West's e-commerce and Customer Relationship Management systems initiatives. He was appointed senior vice president and CTO of Thomson West in October of 2000, and appointed CTO of TNAL in December 2007.
Dr. Ross has more than 30 years of experience in the software industry. Prior to joining Thomson, he served in research and leadership positions at a number of technology companies, including IBM, Texas Instruments, IntelliCorp, Oracle Corporation and Connect.
Mr. Ross received his Bachelor of Science degree from MIT and his Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts. He holds two software patents.
