Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer, North American Legal and West
Rick King is executive vice president and chief operations officer for North American Legal, part of the Professional Division within Thomson Reuters and the foremost provider of electronic workflow solutions to the U.S. legal profession. Mr. King leads the operations group, including the Technology, Customer Experience, Content and Editorial, Business Integration, Managed Technology Services, Event and Trade Show Planning, Community and Government Relations, Diversity, and Manufacturing, Distribution & Engineering organizations.
Mr. King has been with Thomson Reuters for eight years, previously serving as senior vice president and chief technology officer (CTO) for the former Thomson Legal & Regulatory market group. He joined Thomson via the Dialog business unit, where he was executive vice president and CTO. Before Thomson, Mr. King held executive-level positions at Ceridian Employer Services, Jostens Learning and WICAT Systems Inc.
Mr. King serves as a trustee for the Science Museum of Minnesota, on the board of directors of Thomson Global Resources (Zug, Switzerland), and as a member of the University of Minnesota's China Center Advisory Council. He holds City of Eden Prairie-appointed positions on the Flying Cloud Airport Advisory Commission, which he chairs, and the Budget Advisory Commission. He is a member of the Eden Prairie Chamber of Commerce and serves on its Government Committee. In addition, Mr. King was named to ComputerWorld magazine's Top 100 Leaders in IT for 2007 and was a finalist for the Tekne Leadership award from the Minnesota High Tech Association in 2006. He participated in Governor Pawlenty's trade mission to China in 2005 and was selected for the Governor's roundtable on energy strategies in 2007.
Mr. King holds master's and bachelor's degrees from the University of Vermont.
